As 2024 concludes, the Pelican Way of LIFE project celebrates significant milestones in the conservation of the Dalmatian pelican across Europe.

As the year draws to a close, it’s time to reflect on the triumphs and challenges that the European Dalmatian pelican population encountered in 2023. Being a symbol of thriving and interconnected wetlands in Europe, this keystone species remains reliant on dedicated conservation efforts.

Traditionally at the end of the year, we review all the successes and troubles that the European Dalmatian pelican population faced in 2022. This keystone species, being the ambassador of healthy and well-connected wetlands in Europe, is still very much dependent on conservation actions.

At the very end of the year we are happy to share with you the year highlights of the rewilding efforts for Dalmatian pelican comeback along the Black-Sea Mediterranean Flyway. This year was quite active and exciting in all the involved countries and for all partners. A lot of activities from the scientific monitoring of the species to public events and volunteers camp took place in the region. Enjoy the details in the list below.
